Position: Computer Vision Engineer (site based in Pisa)

The Symani platform provides the surgeon with the capability to operate on a small scale with ease and precision, thanks to the Symani platform and a variety of Instrument types.

We are seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to design and develop the vision capabilities of Symani investigating the challenges of real-time vision, deep learning techniques and effective advantage of these technologies for the end-user. The microsurgical setting provides additional challenges to the domain of vision for surgical robotics. Vision is an enabling technology for Symani providing the fundamental elements for Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven capabilities. You will be working with the software and hardware teams of Symani R&D with the objective of transforming research results into life-saving products.

An ideal candidate would:

· Have built or worked with deep learning pipelines

· Have the capability to transform a vision problem into a workable solution

· Solid work and understanding of robotic and vision algorithms

· Being capable of transforming algorithmic intuitions into training pipelines

Skills & Experience

· fluency in modern C++ (5+ years) and Python (3+ years)

· experience with open-source computer vision libraries

· experience in computer vision algorithms for image segmentation and classification

· knowledge of pose reconstruction from stereo vision systems preferred

· knowledge of the internal workings of hardware, camera and their logic

· understanding challenges of real-time vision

· robotics experience is preferable

· medical field or medical device experience is preferred

· previous experience in a regulated environment is preferred

· specification and documentation reporting skills

· presentation and reporting skills

It offers the surgeon motion scaling and tremor elimination and aims to facilitate existing procedures as well as enable new ones in the domain of microsurgery, from post-oncological and trauma reconstructions to ophthalmology, organ transplantation and pediatric surgery.
